Fines wires
LDS: Laser Diffraction Sensor
The
original LDS instruments have been designed in 1987 to meet a specific demand
for in line measurement of fine wire diameters (steel cord). Since, they
have been widely used in the wire industry on production lines but also
in laboratories.
The LDS, its new version, benefits of the very latest technologies but
also of the CERSAs experience in wire industries. More options and
accessories have been added to simplify specific applications. That results
of the continuous support and cooperation of our customers. The LDS are
today one of our key products, used world wide.

Display and keyboard options
Sizes: 210x60x100mm
2 axes High frequency
Ξ Main advantages
On machines: wire vibration measurement independentsIn laboratory: low measurement uncertainty in % of the diameter.
Very high measurement stability and accuracy in time
Long lifetime, entirely static, no moving parts.
Metrological characteristics mentioned for each individual measures. No averaging
Ξ Measurement ranges
LDS2000 »» Ø 50 to 2000 µm
(1.8 to 78.7 mils)
1 axis only today
LDS0650 »» Ø 15 to 650 µm
(0.6 to 25.6 mils) 1 or 2 axes (H only)
LDS0200 »» Ø 5 to 200 µm
(0.2 to 7.8 mils) 1 or 2 axes (H only)
Ξ Metrology
Frequency: 50Hz (Standard version) or 800Hz (1 axis) and 400 Hz
(2 axis) for the H versions.
Repeatability: ±0.02 % of the diameter in laboratory, ±0.03%
in production.
Limitations:
LDS2000: ±0,09 µm (±0.0035
mils)
LDS0650: ±0,03 µm (±0.001 mils)
LDS0200: ±0,01 µm (±0.0004
mils)

Wire sample rotation at constant tension (ovality). (here on the right).
Wire Rotation System, for fine wires, fitted on the LDS, it let clamp the wire at each end and insure an adjustable constant tension. It allows getting diameter changes over one turn with a very high repeatability.
It displays the average, maximum, minimum, difference, roudness (%). It allows the linearization and the calibration according to the weight method.Specially made for die shops, final wire inspection.
-
Standard fine wires for LDSN calibration
The accurate calibration of the LDS in the very fine diameter range is made in relation with international laboratories. We propose reference wires on supports designed for these instruments, to allow calibration check and update. Wires are maintained at con
stant
tension.- The stainless steel wires are drawn with an excellent surface quality.
- The diameter uncertainty is within ±0.1µm.
- They come in set box of 4 wires from 30 to 2000µm, depending of the range.

1 axes reference wire
Ξ PC Software for Windows
- Parameter setting, display and measure recording
- Production management for instruments in a network.
One PC software (mono sensor) comes with each first instrument delivered. It can be used for instrument setting, maintenance, data recording, etc.
